was established in the year 1950. Once, very few people lived where the Samity was set up. But at present, it has turned to be a most populous area of Kharagpur. Some humanists and people with social consciousness laid down themselves for the upliftment of this Samity and they also tried their utmost for the development of socio – cultural ambience of this locality. Arrya Vidyapith – one of the most reputed schools of Kharagpur was established in the year 1963 with the initiative of those socially committed people. Due to the dearth of place, some of the class rooms of the said school ran in the said premises of the Samity. Later, the school was shifted in the land of the South Eastern Railway permanently.

The vast land in front of Samity, where the Samity once set up, has been transformed as a small ground surrounded by trees and provision of seats where the Samity with the cordial assistance of the inhabitants, arrange a many social and cultural programmes every year.

Our Samity has heartily donated some of its land to Dhekia G.S. Primary School.

The Samity started organizing Durga Puja with the cordial intention and co-operation of some of the dedicated members since 1950. The puja has already crossed 60th year in 2009. It is one of the most traditional and oldest pujas in Kharagpur town. Apart from these, our Samity also organizes Sri Sri Kali Puja and Sri Sri Saraswati Puja.

Since its foundation, Balaji Mandir Pally Unnayan Samity is being organized as a non-governmental social organization with a view to social commitment towards the inhabitants of locality. The Samity is fully conscious of its social obligations. Having been inspired with our social activities, many organizations and administration of this multilingual town have conferred our Samity with many awards. We take pride in for such recognition.

It is mention worthy that M/s. Tata Bearing, Nimpura, Kharagpur, has donated an Ambulance Van in the year 2006 because of our social activities. Our Samity has been rendering social services in and around rural and urban areas of Kharagpur with dedication.

Several activities and services rendered by our Samity are mentioned below:

• 01 We organize Blood Donation Camp on 23rd January, and in August, every year
• 02 We arrange Pulse Polio Camp throughout the year
• 03 We arrange Health Check-Up for the tiny tots
• 04 We arrange Hepatitis – ‘B’ Immunization Camp
• 05 We organize Diabetes Check – Up Camp for elderly people
• 06 We organize social and cultural programme every year
• 07 We arrange Seminar on AIDS and Thalasamia consciousness programme
• 08 We organize indoor and outdoor games every year
• 09 We organize and arrange Tree Plantation event

Apart from all these, our Samity also arranges educational activities in the Samity’s premises. They are mentioned below:

• Dance School for the kids
• Drawing School
• Library
